How Do I Get Foreign Travel Insurance Assistance?
The University through our State Insurance Program has an insurance policy with ACE American Insurance Company that that protects University employees while on University business traveling outside the United States, its territories, possessions and Puerto Rico. In summary, the coverages included within this University (State) insurance program whether due to an injury or illness while on University business includes but is not limited to:
- Medical Assistance
- General Liability Coverage
- Contingent Auto Liagility Coverage - foreign travelers renting vehicles abroad should always pruchase auto insurance in the applicable country first - this coverage would be secondary to that insurance.
- Medical Monitoring
- Emergency Medical Evacuation
- Repatriation including moral remains, if needed up to $5,000, for any one occurance.
- Emergency Medication - where needed, arrangements for transportation of such medication, but not the cost of the medication.
- Emergency Cash Advance (loan up to $1,000 which must be repaid).
- Lost Document Assistance - doesn't include the cost of document replacement.
- Legal Access - where needed, referrals to local attorneys but not the cost of any legal services.
The attached ACE brochure outlines these foreign travel assistance services and contact phone numbers in further detail. A hard copy of this travel assistance brochure is available at the BSU Travel Office or at or BSU Risk Management and Insurance Office. The BSU employee traveling abroad on University business should write their name under BSU on the Executive travel assistance brochure and keep it with them for reference.
